This is the 1888 model with standard features to include full length walnut stock that is dated 1892 with "SWP" cartouche for Sam Porter, still visible script P at base, and metal grip cap attached. Has the 1884 Buffington rear sight, post front sight, two band, swivels and trapdoor butt plate. Stock is unit and rack marked as follows: "I", "5", "22", and "524". Lock has the US Springfield eagle. Block is stamped US Model 1884. Left side barrel breech has eagle head VP proof. CONDITION: Fine. Stock has fine finish with crystal clear stamps. Balance of metal is a homogenous patina. Bore is bright. Nice example of scarce rifle that dates to the second to last year of this famous US rifle.
