This gun is dated 12-41, the month of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The barrel is stamped RA with bomb and date. Receiver has the Remington legend. The left side of stock has the inspector cartouche RLP (Roy Bowlin) as well as the Ordnance wheel. The base of stock has the proof P in circle with various proof marks. The right side of the stock has the British lend lease broad arrow with NZ 6398, obviously for New Zealand but there are no foreign proofs on metal. Many of the guns intended for New Zealand were delivered by ships out of Pearl Harbor. The gun is an as issued 1903 that features the finger groove two bolt walnut stock, matching sight groove handguard, all milled parts, parkerized finish, front sight cover and smooth butt plate with trap. CONDITION: Excellent. Metal retains the majority of finish with just minor handling. The stock is excellent showing only minor dings or impressions. Bore is well defined but frosted. A great condition Remington and a storied date.
