Built on 1863 surplus Springfield rifle, barrel sleeved to .50 caliber, lock dated 1864 with "US SPRINGFIELD" eagle, eagle head proof on left barrel breech, block dated 1866 with eagle head. Metal finished in-the-white, blackened block, case colored hammer and lock, three band, swivels, metal rod, Civil War folding sight, and full length walnut stock with crisp "ESA" and "FWS" cartouche stamps on left side. CONDITION: Excellent. Block has faded as have case colors, metal is still bright, stock is excellent with minor impressions. Fine working order. Bore is bright.
