Designed during the Civil War and produced by Province Tool Company for mostly foreign contracts. This rifle is stamped with British crown over "V" view proofs on both the barrel and receiver. Blued round barrel with blade front sight and ladder rear. Case hardened breech loading action which operates similar to a Martini. Full length walnut forend affixed with 2-spring retained bands and a steel nose cap. Matching walnut stock with "WC" cartouche and crescent butt plate. Complete with wiping rod. CONDITION: Near excellent for its age. Barrel retains the vast majority of original blue, starting to fade with some wear at the muzzle. Barrel bands likewise retain most of their blue. Strong and rich case colors are retained, especially on the left side of receiver, nose cap, lock and hammer, the balance starting to fade to patterning with flashed of color. Wood is also very fine with only mild, scattered marks. Mirror bore. Fine mechanics.
