Schoyen is arguably the most noted barrel maker and custom rifle smith of the 19th century with note to the well known Harry Pope of equal or greater fame. This standard Ballard receiver features double set triggers (working) with two line Marlin Ballard legend on left side of octagon breech frame which also features a mid-range tang sight. The heavy round barrel is stamped "GEO. C. SCHOYEN DENVER COLO". The front sight is globe type. There is a rod thimble on barrel base along with a dove tail hook. The forearm is probably Schoyen made, not Ballard. The barrel also features a recessed crown. Walnut stock is standard Ballard with usual tight wrist crack at right and standard curved steel rifle butt plate. CONDITION: Very good. The frame colors have silvered and darkened. The barrel is a smooth plum patina. Stock has some oil darkening and open grain with scattered small dings. Forearm is excellent. Bore is bright.
