The Colt factory Archive letter confirms the configuration of this Single Action. It also states that this gun was shipped to J.F. Schmelzer & Sons in Kansas City Kansas on February 21, 1889 in a shipment of 6 guns. Two line barrel address on top of the barrel, "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." Three line patent dated on the left side of the frame. "45 CAL" on the left front trigger bow. Black powder frame. Small single action front sight and a U notch rear sight. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, backstrap and on the inside of the left grip panel. Nickel plated gun with fire blue screws and cylinder center pin. Two piece hard rubber Eagle grips with the Rampant Colt logo at the top of each grip. Kidney shaped ejector rod. The screws have not been molested. Lot also includes a sealed 1878 dated 12-round packed of Frankfurt Arsenal .45 Colt ammunition. CONDITION: This extraordinary Colt retains virtually all of the original factory applied nickel finish. There is a very small spot of flaking at the left side of the muzzle and another very small spot on the right lower part of the frame. The fire blue screws show a little discoloration. The grips fit this gun very well. They show a hint of wear. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. A great addition to any Colt collection or old west collection.
