This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2024
Mixed numbers; most match "1923" except for the striker, numbered 1944, and the bolt lock, which is unnumbered and in two pieces; the modern "shaft" is machined to the correct dimensions but the locking knob does not have the correct checkering. Dovetailed front sight, adjustable rear sight with delineations for 1 through 5 right side with Tokyo Arsenal "stacked cannonballs", TG&E ahead of ejection port and other classic markings. Stock slot present, but filled. Derby & Brown's "Japanese Military Cartridge Handguns 1893-1945" list the serial number as falling into the 1st variation Tokyo contract. CONDITION: Gun has been refinished with evidence of pitting and polishing, with legends and edges softened, with other scattered handling marks. Right grip scale with repaired crack around reverse of magazine release. Mechanically fine, bore with visible, heavily softened, rifling, with scattered darkness.
