The Baby Nambu was so named as it looked like a scaled down version of the previous "Grandpa" and "Papa" Nambus. While it was never officially adopted, it was approved for private purchase, but the cost and the preference for the sword as the sidearm of choice made it so that the Baby struggled to gain traction. Typical configuration in 7mm Nambu with barleycorn front sight, V-ntoch rear sight, right side of slide with kanji for "Nambu Shiki" (lit. Nambu Type), Tokyo Arsenal "stacked cannonballs" on top of slide ahead of ejection port. Matching full or partial serial numbers observed on slide, bolt lock, bolt, locking block, barrel (internally, on lug), recoil spring guide, and cocking knob; magazine numbered to another gun. Accompanied by a reproduction leather holster with correct double line of ammo loops for 14 rounds and shoulder hoop. CONDITION: Excellent with nearly all of the factory bluibng remaining, with some scattered handling marks and thinning to sharpest edges. Some surface level freckling in a few spots, and some fine pitting on fore of recoil spring guide tube. Straps with some surface freckling throughout. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent, bright and shiny, with some mild frosting towards muzzle. Leather is supple with crazing at hinges, and some tears to ammo pouch. A great example.
