Confederate Nashville Plow Works cavalry saber. The saber is accompanied by a letter from Stone River Trading Company. According to the letter, this saber was a very early find in the Chickamauga, Georgia area. The sword exhibits a heavy patina throughout that would be expected from a battlefield recovered piece. The "CSA" remains legible but the "NASHVILLE PLOW WORKS" address is mostly obscured, as it appears that the hilt was smashed, either damaged in battle or by the elements. Wood grip is present with most of its brass wire. A piece of old tape is secured to the grip underneath the guard. Hilt exhibits a green patina typical of these pieces with high copper content. CONDITION: Relic.
