Manufactured by partners Henry Mansfield and Estus Lamb in the village of Forestdale, Rhode Island. One of 37,500 edged weapons produced by the firm for the Ordnance Department during the war. Standard configuration with obverse ricasso marked “U.S. / C.E.W. / 1863” and reverse ricasso marked “MANSFIELD / & LAMB / FORESTDALE R.I.” contained in a large oval. Blade with gray patina and drag lines. Brass hilt with dark patina and remains tight. Brass wire wrap on grip remains tight with cracked leather. Complete with its scabbard that exhibits a chocolate patina. CONDITION: Good.
