Manufactured in 1901. This is a rare early deluxe carbine. The butt stock is numbered to gun as is the butt plate (stamped 2319, missing 4) and the fiery grained walnut is outstanding as is the piano finish with the checkered side panels and extra grade checkering at wrist and on forearm. Standard blue finish, round barrel, dove tail bead front sight, 3-leaf express rear sight, saddle ring and stud with case color lever. CONDITION: Very good. The stock has the typical crack at wrist and someone stippled over the front half of the checkering to disguise the wrist repair. Overall, the checkering has thinned, some extra finish has been added and stocks show some scattered impressions. The receiver shows some blue at bridge and tang but has basically softened to patina. The barrel retains approximately 70% blue that is thinning near breech to soft grey. Case colors have faded. Bore is well defined but shows some abrasion and frosting.
