Rare, gold-plated pre-war South Carolina hat pin in the form of a palmetto tree flanked by the ellipses of the state seal and the date “1776.” Stamped brass with 4 soldered brass wire attachment devices on reverse. The pin measures 3 - 1/4” by 1 - 3/4”. Nice antebellum period South Carolina hat insignia. CONDITION: Very good.
