Per the included factory quick check this shotgun shipped as a 20 gauge Skeet grade with 26" barrels, choked WS-1 in right barrel and WS-2 in left, single trigger, selective ejector, pistl grip stock, checkered pull, 1 - 3/4" pitch, 14" length of pull, 2 - 1/2" drop at heel, 1 - 9/16" drop at comb, American walnut, and #6 engraving; it was returned under repair order 4344, which utilized a different set of barrels. It was made for Marshall Field &and Company under order 1752-02-AA, and inspection finished August 28th, 1945. Classic dovetailed chopper lumps with red composite Bradley style front sight and steel bead mid sight on a low profile vent rib with machine cut matting. 1 - 1/2" triangles of acanthus scroll at breeches, with stiff leaf engraving at breeches. Underside of barrels with "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" and "WS-1" and "WS-2" choke designations. Flats with Winchester proof, "2 3/4 IN. CHAM" and "20 GA. DE LUXE SKEET" and serial number, with fleur de lis flourishes. Beavertail forearm with rolling "banjo" release, checkered in a point pattern about the release, and engraved with acanthus scroll on release and exterior iron.Interior iron with matching serial numbers on iron and stamped in wood. Boxlock action with patent and address information on action flats, engraved in Grade VI pattern with acanthus scroll throughout, recoil fences with carved oak leaves, and vignettes of a pointer on left, alerting on a pair pheasants in a meadow scene on bottom, and a spaniel on right, also alerting on an the pheasants. Trigger guard with scrollwork and vignette of a spaniel with a pheasant in his jaws. Single trigger with blade mounted selector, non-automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in brass ahead of slide. Feather crotch walnut stock with checkered side panels, a pistol grip with Winchester Repeating Arms hard rubber grip cap and point pattern checkering about the wrist, and checkered butt. In an L.L. Bean leather gun slip. With numerous ephemera related to the gun and the owner's clubs including a Winchester Gun Club triptych with hints for each station; business card for same; a Marshal Field and Company receipt for this gun, listed by serial number, with 8-20-46 date; correspondence with Marshall Field & Co discussing the gun; advertising for the Model 21; a filled out order sheet indicating that the purchaser indicated that he wanted a non-automatic safety, ivory front bead, beavertail forearm, and other measurements as factory recorded; and a blank order sheet. CONDITION: Very good as rehabilitated. Barrels with virtually all of the reapplied matte bluing with some softness to legends as a result of rebluing, with some scattered handling marks, somewhat heavier under forearm. Forearm very good with some additional varnish added that has softened checkering, but free of cracks or chips. Action is very good, reblued, with some softness to edges from reblue. Engraving still crisp, with some silvering, primarily to carry points and high edges. Stock very good with some additional varnish added en suite with forearm, with some scattered handling marks and impressions throughout. Mechanically fine, ejectors in need of attention as right barrel tries to fire before opening. Bores are very good; right barrel has been aggressively opened up to the point where the choke is now a positive 15-thousand. Slip very good with a tear towards mouth.
ADDENDUM: Last 3” of right barrel have an internal bore diameter of .629, with a wall thickness of .019. Choke was polished and removed from the barrel. The remainder is at the .619 bore diameter.
