According to the included original receipt, this rifle was purchased September 27th, 1950 from Ray's Sport Shop in Scotch Plains, New Jersey for the grand sum of $162.50. Per the serial number, it was manufactured earlier that year. Rifle features a tapered blued Winchester proof steel barrel with ramped Redfield bead top front sight blade, the rear sight dovetail filled in with a Lyman blank. Receiver is mounted with a Bausch & Lomb Balvar scope with a period tapered post and line reticle on a Bausch & Lomb adjustable base. Correct matte finished receiver with controlled feed bolt marked on the underside in electro pencil with the full matching serial number. Diamond checkered walnut stock with ebony forend tip, super grade swivels, "-SUPER GRADE-" marked floor plate, composition "WRACO" grip cap, and blued steel widows peak butt plate. Rifle is accompanied by the aforementioned receipt, front page of the original manual, scope manual, leather sling, and a wood box containing 2 full 20-round boxes of Remington Kleanbore ammunition, 3 partial boxes of Remington Kleanbore, 1 partial box of Western Super-X, and 1 full box of Winchester Silvertip brass. CONDITION: Fine. Barrel retains nearly all of its factory blue with some very mild silvering around the muzzle. Receiver is likewise fine. Bottom metal shows mild high edge silvering. Stock displays crisp checkering with a few scattered impressions, including one larger scrape on the left side under the action. Very fine, bright bore with crisp, well defined rifling showing little use. Smooth mechanics. Clear optics. A fantastic, well documented Super Grade in highly desirable .257 Roberts chambering.
