This professionally engraved map horn measures about 12" across the bow and has a three stage spout section separated by relief rings. The main body is profusely engraved with an extensive map extending from Niagara to Albany. Towards the top the horn is engraved with "NIAGARA / 24 JULLI / 1759". Some notable locations named and depicted are Lake Ontario, Fort Ontario, Ticonderoga, Lake George, Fort Edward, Half Moon, Saratoga, Fort Hunter, Schenectady, Fort Stanwix, Fort Harman, Wood Creek and many others. The center of the horn is engraved with a large prominent British crest. CONDITION: Attractive honey patina, showing some wear. Small section restored professionally above the replaced wood plug. Small hairline crack stemming from spout opening. A probably natural bulge at the depiction of "Fort Hunter". A very attractive French and Indian War map horn.
