This US issue WWI Smith is built on the square butt N-frame, 5-screw. Has matching numbers on the cylinder and barrel. The smooth walnut grips have a matching number in pencil on right panel. Gun features a high polish blue finish, case color trigger, case color hammer with the grease groove sides. UNITED STATES PROPERTY is stamped under the barrel along with US ARMY MODEL 1917 next to lanyard loop at butt. The right side of frame bears the inspector stamp GHS for Gilbert Stewart. This gun comes with a complete soldier id'ed web rig. Hand written is Lt. E. Shorrock 306 FA (field artillery) on the half moon clip pouch, the medical kit pouch and back of web belt. The leather US holster is not marked. Constituted 5 August 1917 in the National Army as the 306th Infantry and assigned to the 77th Division. Organized 26 August 1917 at Camp Upton, New York CONDITION: Fine . Retains majority of bright blue with exception to a 2" thinned area on left side of barrel, some age freckling loss on top strap, grey back strap, some toning on right side of frame at grip along with some minor high edge and muzzle wear. Grips are excellent. Case colors are strong. Bore is bright with a crisp action.
