Brass bodied eprouvette used to test the strength of gunpowder via increments on the wheel, which would spin to the appropriate strength upon "firing" the pistol. Signed on left side of boxlock by Oakes, and gently line engraved. Slabside walnut grips. CONDITION: Good, with some handling marks and toning to brass. Wheel spins appropriately.
