The Mauser 66 uses a QD barrel system allowing one to quickly swap between various calibers depending on the pursuit, not dissimilar to the modern Blaser R8s. Barrels with added bridge for scope, the .30-06 with a Bushnell and the .43 with an Osprey. Both sets with blade front sights on raised islands with checkered ramps, and typical German proofs at shanks; neither barrel is numbered to action. Action with typical Mauser legends and "DBP 1 205 423" on right side, mounted in walnut stock with contrasting rosewood forearm tip separated by a white line spacer, skipline checkered in two panels about the forearm, wrist checkered en suite, pistol grip with rosewood grip and whiteline spacer en suite with forearm, and a Bavarian style cheekpiece. Mauser branded hard rubber buttplate with white line spacer. Sling bows on stud at toe line, barrels with bows on studs on rings sweated to barrel. In a custom wood case with latch locks with foam French fit for stock assembly, pair screwdrivers, pair allen screws, T wrench, each barrel assembly, and two boxes of ammo, both Winchester Ballistic Silvertip Supreme, one .30-06 with 180 grain bullets, the other .243 Winchester with 55 grain bullets. CONDITION: Barrels very good as customized, with scope mounts reblued over fine pitting on lumps, and scattered handling marks and superficial scratches to balance. Stocks with numerous handling marks and impressions from the field, with buttplate, pistol grip cap, and forearm cap replaced and fits off. Mechanically fine, barrels are tight in stock but seat correctly, bores are very good with strong rifling and a touch of frosting. Case is missing key. A good setup for just about anything in North America.
