Issued as a limited run of 250 in 1979 by the Bianchi Frontier Museum, quickly selling out at that time. This rugged depiction of John Wayne shows him as he is known best in full Western attire armed with his trusty Colt six-shooter and iconic large loop Winchester 1892 saddle ring carbine. The base portion of the casting is marked on the front with the title "JOHN WAYNE / AMERICAN" as well as Manuel's signature and arrow head marking. The reverse marked with the copyright date, "BIANCHI FRONTIER MUSEUM", and Maiden Bronze Foundry roundel. Casting is correctly fitted with a molded wood base, which is still affixed to its plywood shipping board. Lot includes the original double walled and Styrofoam padded shipping carton. With its wood base this monumental bronze stands 30 - 1/2" tall. CONDTION: Very fine. Bronze surfaces retain their original multitoned surfaces, creating a dynamic, near polychrome affect. A few minor spots of patina present. An outstanding example of a highly desirable and very attractive Western bronze.
