This fusil is possibly French, is certainly in that style, and appears to be 1760s. Tapered iron barrel marked with a chicken foot "I" over "G", bayonet lug mounted on bottom, near muzzle. The lock is unmarked, but closely follows the 1763 French locks. Iron trigger guard and buttplate in the 1763 style. Four iron bands retain the barrel, front band has an extension to keep ramrod in place. Walnut stock of French form, right side of buttstock stamped "G / G I IIG / G". Complete with original ramrod. CONDITION: All iron components bright or with light grey patina. Markings very good throughout. Lock is in its original configuration and is functional. Stock has scattered marks from use and two cracks on right side of forend, just forward of front two bands.
