The lock, barrel, ramrod ferrules, sideplate and buttstock from the lock back are from a Dutch Model 1710 iron-mounted musket. These were the exact model shipped here before the French and Indian War to the colony of South Carolina. Lock marked "NIB" in rectangular cartouche. The trigger guard is from a French 1728 musket. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark heavy patina, some corrosion. Lock has dark patina, cock heavily pitted, frizzen screw replaced. Lock is original flint. Furniture retains a dark brown patina. There is quite a but of wood replaced in sections under the lock and around the sideplate. Some losses to stock towards muzzle and barrel has been shortened. Trigger guard appears to be a period replacement.
