This fowler is featured in "Longrifles of Note" by George Shumway on pages 178-179. titled "A Mid-18th Century French Gun Probably Used in Canada or New England". It states it was purchased at Brimfield in 1994 in untouched condition. The lock was replaced. Two stage barrel, Flat lockplate in Germanic style, iron furniture in the French style. Walnut stock with relief carving around barrel tang and mounts. CONDITION: Rough and showing heavy wear and significant restoration. Reconverted lock, sideplate replaced and scattered areas of woodwork. A copy of the article is included.
