Moulins, where these pistols were made circa 1760, is southwest of Paris, not far from St. Etienne Arsenal. The pistols are fine quality and have tapered three-stage barrels. The flat lock plates have stepped down convex tails engraved with floral scrolls. Swan neck cocks engraved around screws with a snake. Centers marked "Deboushe / Moulins" in centers in cartouches. Early pans with no exterior bridles. Engraved brass mounts on highly figured striped stocks. Stocks relief carved around mounts and barrel tangs. CONDITION: Barrels retain a grey patina with some wear and scattered light pitting. Locks very good with light grey patina and excellent crisp markings. Locks are in their original flintlock configurations and function well. Brass retains a mellow mustard patina. Stocks retain a pleasing patina, some minor hairline cracks and marks from use. A very nice high quality pair of pistols.
