Iron barrels with swamped muzzles and a chiseled relief panels terminating in teardrops and engraved "BARBAR". Breeches engraved with foliate motifs and scrolls, left side marked with London private view and proof marks as well as "IB" for maker James Barbar. Barbar apprenticed with his father and became a free member of the London Gunmaker's Guild in 1722. He worked until 1773 and was a maker to His Majesty King George II. Convex locks with thin relief borders and unbridled rounded pans, lockplate center marked "BARBAR". Iron trigger guards, ramrod ferrules, and pommels of iron with silver grotesque mask caps. Silver sideplates and wrist escutcheons featuring chased panoplies of military arms. Walnut stocks of early Georgian form carved with relief shells around barrel tangs. Wood ramrods with horn tips. CONDITION: Barrels and locks mostly bright with some scattered light pitting. Locks are in their original flintlock configurations and function well. Frizzen spring screws replaced. Iron mounts retain a dark patina and silver has a mostly pewter patina. Stocks shows some scattered marks from use and an area of loss above sideplate of one pistol. Small 1/8" x 1/2" piece replaced on both sides next to trigger guard on other pistol.
