Third quarter 18th century. These pistols feature round brass barrels with swamped muzzles, tops engraved "LONDON" and left sides of breeches marked with private Tower proofs. Brass locks are marked "REYNOLDS" in centers and feature brass pans. Engraved brass furniture, pommels have grotesque mask caps. Triggerguards have panoplies of arms on the bows. Oval wrist escutcheons inscribed "JR". Plain walnut stocks of attractive Georgian form and relief aprons carved around tangs. Original horn-tipped wooden ramrods, one with iron tip. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrels, locks, and brass furniture retain a dark mustard patina and markings are excellent. Locks are in their original flintlock configurations and functions well, one cock a replacement. Stocks very good with scattered light storage marks. A beautiful pair of Georgian pistols.
