Given the legends and serial number, 1973/74 manufacture date of frame, and checkering pattern, probably built by Jim Clark Sr.. Arisocrat style full length Bomar rib with black-on-black front and rear sights, front sight on an extended base to increase sight radius. Right sight signed " "Clark" HEAVY SLIDE / KEITHVILLE, LA", added to typical Colt rollmarks. Interior of slide marked "695" (last 3 digits of S/N), and "474"; clear polishing marks. Front strap and backstrap checkered in widely spaced "chipped" pattern. Anatomical walnut grips for single handed bullseye shooting. Serrated small parts; trigger set to a shade over 3#. Magazine with J&J blue slampad. Housed in a blue plastic S&W case with allen wrenches and two more magazines with J&J slampads. CONDITION: Very good as customized, checkering is still very sharp. Action is very smooth, trigger is very good with minimal takeup. Mechanically fine, bore with strong rifling, some firing residue, and frosting at edges of lands. A good example produced by one of the masters of pistolsmithing.
