Circa 1760-1780. Two-stage Spanish barrel with swamped muzzle and brass and silver inlays at breech along with indistinct maker's mark. Engraved miquelet lock with indistinct brass cartouche. Engraved brass furniture including pommel cap with panoplies of arms. Walnut stock with relief-carved panels around lock, sideplate and relief acanthus leaf around barrel tang. Brass wrist escutcheon with silver oval in center. Horn-tipped wooden ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a grey patina with some light scattered pitting. Lock mostly polished, strong properly functioning mechanism. Brass retains a mustard patina, shows some were overall and a small replaced section on wrist escutcheon. Stock has a repaired break to wrist and a small chip at muzzle tip on left side.
