John Dreisbach Jr. is listed as a gunsmith in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, where he worked between about 1820 and 1850. The pistol features a rifled, two-stage barrel with decorated muzzle, front silver blade sight and decorated notched rear sight. The top flat, behind rear sight is inscribed "John Dresbach Jnr" and the upper right flat inscribed with an "H" in the same hand. The flat lock is Germanic in style and has a scalloped frizzen spring and faceted pan. The inside of the lock is marked "H/H". Plain brass furniture with an oval wrist escutcheon of silver with rocker panel engraving. Stock of figured tiger maple. CONDITION: Barrel retains a light grey patina with some light pitting towards breech and around touchhole. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration, functions properly and retains a light grey patina with some scattered light pitting. Top jaw, top jaw screwed frizzen spring screw are replacements. Brass retains a pleasing mustard patina, sideplate a possible replacement. Stock shows scattered minor pieces of wood replaced, a repaired wrist break and scattered age cracks and marks from use.
