Manufactured by Henry Deringer in Philadelphia during the mid-19th century as marked "DERINGER / PHILADELA" on both lock and barrel. This example is of the desirable small "peanut size" with 2" barrel mounted at the breech with a pair of German silver bands, as well as a dovetailed German silver blade front sight, and v-notch rear. Standard foliate engraved back action percussion lock. Checkered American stock is of classic bird's head form in engraved German silver mounts. CONDTION: Very good. Barrel and action have developed a dark gunmetal patina. Stock shows wear and impressions throughout. Cock has some damage where it strikes the cap. Otherwise good mechanics. Bore has defined rifling with black powder abrasion.
