Of early, circa 1830s/40s form this medium sized pocket pistol was manufactured by Henry Deringer of Philadelphia. Barrel is agent marked "LULLMAN & VIENNA / MEMPHIS TENN." indicating Southern sale and likely later Civil War use, possibly in Confederate hands. Breech bears the standard "DERINGER / PHILADELA" and sunburst "P" markings between a pair of German silver bands. Font sight is a replacement constructed of steel and German silver. Standard floral engraved back action percussion lock also marked "DERINGER / PHILADELA". Checkered walnut stock of bird's head form with German silver mounts. Pommel, key, and left key escutcheon are replacements. CONDITION: Good. Barrel and action display an aged gunmetal gray patina with scattered marks including vise marks on the barrel. Stock shows wear and added finish, the trigger guard fitting somewhat poorly at the front. Good mechanics and bore.
