Lot consists of 2 Colt broadsides: "Colt's Patent Repeating Pistols, Army, Navy, and Pocket Sizes. Manufactured at Hartford, Conn. Beware of Counterfeits and Patent Infringements." Circa 1850/1851, Hartford Connecticut. Each are illustrated broadsides on paper, advertising the Colt .44 Caliber Second Model Dragoon Revolver, with letter key of each part. Around 2,500 of the second model were produced during 1850-1851 for the U.S. Army's Regiment of Mounted Rifles, and they were later used during the Civil War. The first broadside measures approximately 16" x 13" and is matted, contained in a gilt frame. There is scattered staining with visible folds and creases but the text and image remains clear. The net measures approximately 13" x 11" and is matted, contained in a wood frame. Contemporary French manuscript on the verso regarding municipal taxes. There are a few holes at the upper fold line as a result of wear and ink burn. Despite the wear, the text and image remains clear. CONDITIION: Good.
