The firm of E. Schmidt & Habermann was founded around 1886 in Germany. This little take down is based on the small Martini falling action and features double set triggers, (working) a lightly foliate scroll engraved receiver and lever which are case color as is the Swiss butt plate. Octagon barrel is blue finished with maker legend near breech and a target tang mounted sight and is equipped with an adjustable front and rear sight. The walnut stock is hand cut checkered and an expertly carved stock (left side) depicting a gentleman drinking in front of an old coach house surrounded by oak leaves with a checkered and carved forearm with swivels. Comes in a later, form fitted, wood case with a brass and horn powder measure paired with two period tools. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains 30% case colors, some bright. Barrel retains 90% blue with light handling marks. Stock is excellent with minor bruises. Forearm has some finish loss, mostly from rubbing the case. Bore is bright.
