For a similar example with this form, see plate 62 on page 66 of "Scottish Swords and Dirks" by John Wallace. Straight blade with "SH" for Samuel Harvey stamped on both sides in running fox. Brass guard mount is slightly curved. Boldly carved interlace on grip. Brass sidestraps on haunches are engraved with crosshatching. Brass pommel cap decorated on sides with crosshatching, top rivet is iron. Complete with its original tooled brown leather scabbard with rocker-panel engraved brass tip mount. CONDITION: Blade polished and shows some losses to cutting edge from sharpening, some wear and some scattered pitting. Hilt shows high edge wear and wear from use to carving. Mounts polished and showing wear. Scabbard shows losses to surface, some losses to leather at top and is broken in two just above remaining mount. A rare and early form.
