The double-edged broadsword blade is engraved "MEFECIT SOLINGEN" on both sides in shallow short central fuller. Ricasso marked with crown over "PM" in a cartouche over a larger "8" in an oval cartouche. The full basket hilt is engraved with line borders and pierced with circles and double keyhole designs. Domed pommel cap without capstan. Leather-wrapped grip with two twisted brass wire strands. CONDITION: Blade and hilt have been cleaned, blade shows scattered pitting throughout. Hilt shows a couple hairline cracks but no breaks or repairs. Interior retains a dark heavy brown patina. Blade tight to hilt. Pommel has a crack. Grip slightly loose, leather shows some crazing and minor losses to surface.
