William Soper starting making custom guns in Traverse City Michigan, moving to San Francisco in 1876, then San Luis Obispo, Eureka and Seattle around 1890. This custom heavy barrel target rifle has his name prominently stamped. There is a globe front sight, a flat top sporting rear sight, a bar on upper tang tapped for peep sight, checkered walnut half stock, pewter tip, oak rod, brass furniture, checkered wrist, American eagle on left side of stock, single trigger, engraved decorative brass trim around butt plate, and an unusual design patch box. CONDITION: Very good. Lock hammer and barrel are grey patina. Stock is excellent with sharp checkering but does have a stress crack on right side. Working order. Bore is well defined with minor residue. Sharp looking rifle.
