Circa 2010 per included test target, which indicates regulation with a 600 grain Woodleigh at 50 yards. The blacked round 24" steel barrel has a white tipped blade front sight on a raised island with stippled ramp and fit with a Holland & Holland flip over hood on a barrel banded base. Barrel banded sling stud ahead of forearm tip. Quarter rib at rear with spearpoint fit with a dovetailed rear sight, fit with two leaves, one standing and one folding, with standing leaf marked for regulation at 50 yards and a folding leaf marked for 100; both with gold express lines. Engraved ahead of the rear sight ".500 JEFFERY", and "HOLLAND & HOLLAND BRUTON STREET, LONDON." ahead of quarter rib. With 2009 dated London nitro proof for a .500 caliber rifle on right side of the barrel and a GP with Crown Over proof on right side of barrel ring. Built on aJohannsen double square bridge large ring Mauser action with matching serial number visible on bolt, three position safety with "SAFE" at bolt head, and a clever witness mark, also executed in gold, that lines up flag and bolt head when safety is engaged. Bottom metal engraved "HOLLAND / & / HOLLAND" with a gold inlaid elephant in the grass on a stippled ground with "CALBIRE / 500 / JEFFERY". Trigger guard with serial number engraved with gentle floral scroll on edges. Nicely streaked honey colored walnut stock has a contrasting dark wood forearm tip, point pattern checkering about the wrist, pair of reinforcement bolts below action, pistol grip with trap and cap, cap similarly engraved with floral scroll with trigger guard, trap with spare front sight. Beaded cheekpiece, vacant gold stock oval and sling stud on belly of stock and a leather covered recoil pad. In a leather tabbed case with embossed "JWH" initials on lid, Holland & Holland trade label inside lid, and containing accessories comprising; cleaning rod, brush, mop, and jag, Holland & Holland branded oil bottle and selvyt cloth, box of Parker Hale cleaning patches, Holland & Holland branded woven canvas sling with leather tongues, and a maintenance pamphlet. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the factory finishes to both metal and wood throughout, with some thinning to sharpest edges such as sweated bases and edges of rings on action. Bolt body with slight rubbing from action being cycled, bolt face is extremely clean, possibly unfired since factory regulation. Bright, strong rifling. Case with mild handling marks to exterior leather, accessories excellent. An outstanding big bore bolt gun from one of London's Best makers.
