Issued in 1989 by the U.S. Historical Society, with only 1000 total being made. Serial number 1 was gifted to the Duke of Wellington, and serial number 2 was put into the collection of the U.S. Historical Society in Richmond, Virginia. Standard Colt Dragoon configuration throughout, with blue finish, color case hardened rammer, frame, and hammer, and silver plated trigger guard and backstrap. Fit with one piece walnut grips featuring a silver "Royal Armouries At The Tower of London" plaque on right grip. Marked on left side of barrel with typical inscription for this model, and engraved with approximately 75% coverage with well executed Colt factory style scrollwork. Complete with factory hardwood partitioned case, factory pamphlets, certificates of authenticity, a letter from US Historical Society Chief Gunsmith Jeffrey Belcher certifying inspection of the revolver, and a copy of a letter from R.L. Wilson to Robert H. Kline, Chairman of the US Historical Society about this issue of revolvers and his experience with the Tower of London. The idea for these revolvers germinated from the relationship between, Wilson, US Historical Society, and the Tower of London. CONDITION: Excellent+, and near mint with scattered superficial handling marks. Grips show now major signs of distress. Case is excellent.
