Manufactured in 1888. Factory research shows shipped on April 23, 1889 and in warehouse on June 20, 1888. Listed as a #3, 30" octagon barrel in 32-40 caliber. Swiss butt plate not mentioned nor are the special sights. This rifle has the PW proof on barrel and receiver (1905 or later) as well as the factory star stamp on face of frame under forearm which indicates it went back to the factory and work was performed by them. It is still in the same configuration as per letter so any work performed would be on a work record and there is no mention of any returns. The rifle features a 30" full octagon No. 3 blue barrel with an adjustable spirit level globe front sight. Rear sight slot has a filler and rifle sports a Vernier tang with a 2 1/2" adjustment. The receiver is case color. The walnut stock wears a brass Swiss butt plate and the forearm has the ebony inset. CONDITION: Excellent. Receiver retains at least 50% case color. Barrel retains 80% blue, thinning at muzzle, some areas of thinning, some light high edge wear and handling marks. The bore is bright. The stock is excellent, proud to metal, with scattered small scratches and impressions. Forearm is in similar condition. Lovely rifle.
