Built on the robust 44 1/2 action, factory engraved and case color. Features a bear on left side with buck on right, border engraved and around screws. At the face of the frame is stamped 54 for model with a 0. The blue full octagon barrel measures 29" and, unless special order, was shortened but the muzzle face is beveled. There is one barrel front sight slot cut which appears to have the proper set back. Two scope bases are mounted on barrel and sports a Lyman Junior Target Spot 3/4" tube scope with adjustable rings. Rifle also wears a tang sight with 2.5" adjustment. The double set triggers are working but main spring seems weak. The lever has the wood panels. The deluxe walnut forearm has cut checkering with two rear close set screws for a palm rest. Matching serial numbers on barrel, receiver and butt plate. Forearm has a pencil serial number but hard to decipher. The checkered walnut stock is a contemporary replacement. Swiss butt plate is plated and has matching serial number. Top of barrel has Stevens legend with caliber on left side. CONDITION: Fine with note to replaced stock. Barrel retains the majority of blue with some handling. Frame colors have nickeled out. Bright nitre blue on breech block. The stock does have great grain and proper hand cut checkering. Forearm in like condition, both with light impressions and handling marks. The action works correctly. The lower front frame screw is a blued replacement. Bore is sharp.
