Lot consists of: (A) Sixth plate tintype of a young Union soldier wearing a 9-button infantry frock coat with slightly tinted cheeks. Housed in a hinged leatherette case. (B) Sixth plate ambrotype of a mustached Union soldier with dark greatcoat and forage cap with infantry hunting horn insignia. Housed in a fancy thermoplastic case. (C) Ninth plate ambrotype of an older Union soldier wearing a 9-button infantry frock coat. Consignor tag included with the image ID's the soldier as Pvt. William Niles of Co. H, 32nd Massachusetts Infantry, mustered on July 31, 1862. Niles died of disease during the war years. Housed in a leatherette case. (D) Ninth plate tintype of what appears to be an early war militia member wearing an earlier style uniform with 3 rows of brass buttons. Housed in a hinged embossed leatherette case. CONDITION: Very good. Images not examined outside of cases.
