Lot consists of: (A) Civil War Federal Chausser's Model 1860 French style shako. This shako was part of 10,000 sets of chasseur uniforms purchased from the Godillot firm in Paris and imported for the US market for use by Union troops early in the war. Constructed of black leather and measures approximately 6” high with a straight vertical crown which features a slightly curved, stamped brass gilt plate pinned to the front. There are vent holes on either side of the top. Leather is in good condition and exhibits surface wear. Tight stitching. The leather visor has a finished edge with a green underside that shows light wear. The interior features a wide black leather sweatband with scuffing. CONDITION: Good. (B) World War I era US Navy flat hat with light mothing and staining throughout. CONDITION: Good.
