Manufactured in 1942 by Mauser in Oberndorf with "byf / 42" receiver code. Classic configuration with blued finish, blade front sight, tangent rear, and laminate stock with milled mounts. Cupped butt plate is "bpr" subcontractor marked and is blued, likely post war. Mismatched World War I bayonet lug. Importantly this rifle is fitted with a correct period Type II sniper side rail base with locking screws but no later reinforcement pins. No mount or scope is included. Externally visible numbers are matching. No visible import marks. CONDITION: Excellent. Nearly all of the arsenal blue is retained throughout with some minor loss at the rear sight base, likely from contact with blood. Stock has light scattered marks. Fine bright bore, possibly unfired after leaving the factory. Fine mechanics. An outstanding example.
