Circa 1913-1915 per Holland & Holland's serial number document. Dovetail lump barrels with diminutive bead front sight on a smooth, swamped, solid rib. Engraved with Holland & Holland's 98 New Bond Street address over chamber, and decorated with a small sprig of acanthus scroll at rear of rib and dressed with stiff leaf work over breeches. Underside of barrels with matching serial number, indistinctly marked "H854" (?, difficult to read) adjacent forearm loop. Barrel flats with Birmingham proofs for a choked 12 gauge with a nominal 18.6 IBD and 2 - 3/4" chambers, proofed at 850 BAR with 1 - 1/8 oz of shot. Remnants of previous proofs visible, but illegible. Flat bottom splinter forearm with a reinforced Anson style plunger release, point pattern checkering about the central escutcheon, and light scroll engraving on exterior iron. Interior iron with matching serial number. Action flats with Birmingham nitro proofs and serial number. Strikers with gas vents. Holland & Holland pattern hand detachable sidelocks with cocking indicators and simple scroll engraving, bottom with "HOLLAND'S EJECTOR" and signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" at bars. Double triggers, automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold ahead of slide. Nicely figured walnut stock constructed with teardrops, diamond cross-section grip, point pattern checkering about the straight grip, brass oval on toe line, and a leather wrapped recoil pad with covered screws. Housed in a leather case with "G.F.F" embossed on exterior and luggage labels for Hotel Europa and Ledra Palace, Cyprus, and Hotel Europa, Angola. Lined in a newer red baize lining, interior of lid with Holland & Holland trade label, extractor cleaning notice, and original charge card, with a hand written notation at the bottom for a reproof at 2 - 3/4" in London. Accessories comprise two part cleaning rod, pair tweezers, pair snapcaps, oil bottle with rangoon oil, striker pot, a second smaller pot, and patches. CONDIITON: Very good as competently restored. Barrels with virtually all of a good quality reblue, with a few fine pits under the bluing at the muzzle. Locks excellent with virtually all of their case colors, just starting to fade and thin and sharpest edges. Stocks excellent with minor handling marks, impressions, and a few abraded heads. Mechanically fine, ejectors strong and in time, bores excellent with some firing residue ahead of chambers. Case good with scuffs and handling marks from age, but solid.
