Circa 1890-1892 per "Holland & Holland: 'The Royal' Gunmaker" by Dallas. Dovetail lump chain Damascus barrels with diminutive bead front sight on a solid, tapering rib with "Holland & Holland 98 New Bond Street, London" engraved over chambers. Underside of barrels with matching serial numbers, "12" and "H2211" abutting forearm loop, and view proof. Barrel flats with British London proofs for a choked 28 gauge. Extractor. Petite splinter forearm checkered in a point pattern and fit with a reinforced tip and Deely latch release, lightly engraved with geometrics and scroll. Interior with matching serial number. Round bodied receiver with serial number, view proofs and matching "H2211". Back action locks with "Holland & Holland" neatly engraved, and dressed with borderwork. Rebounding serpentine hammer, double triggers, and long tang trigger guard with serial number engraved. English straight grip stock with point pattern checkering about the wrist, silver vanity plate at toe line, and checkered butt with two screw holes, probably from previous mounting of a pad. CONDITION: Barrels with the vast majority of a rebrown, with some thinning to sharp edges and scattered handling marks, particularly at rib. Legends somewhat softened. Forearm with some very minor slivers missing along edges, and scattered handling marks and impressions throughout. Metal essentially gunmetal grey with some spotted mossing. Barrels are tight on face, although forearm is loose. Action essentially gunmetal grey with some scattered chocolate patina and mossing. Left hammer screw replaced, left hammer reblued. Stocks very good with scattered handling marks, checkering heavily softened en suite. Mechanically fine, bores with scattered pitting throughout.
