This versatile knife is excellent for general camp use or as a defense weapon on a wilderness expedition. Unusual style with a swept back blade that features a subtle clip point. The reverse cheek is marked "W. SCAGEL" in small lettering with Bill's signature kris mark. The blade exhibits a pleasing gray patina with blemishes. Small brass guard with single downturned quillon exhibits patina. Center swelled stacked leather washer grip with red, black, white, and aluminum spacers. Large antler pommel is retained by a brass pin on each side. The handle exhibits patina and wear associated with use and storage. A great example of a Scagel knife. CONDITION: Good. This knife was obtained at Scagel's property by John Gordon Breland, who was a policeman in Muskegon, Michigan. Upon his retirement, he did odd carpentry jobs, one of which was expanding Scagel's home or workshop. Breland was a lifelong hunter and selected these items from what Scagel had on hand in his shop.
