One of the final pre-war SAA frames manufactured in 1940. This example was most likely assembled pre-war, although 6 Pre-War / Post-War guns numbered in this range were also assembled in this configuration in 1947-48. The polish blued barrel is roll marked on the top with standard 1-line address. Left side reads "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .357". Blade front sight and frame notch rear. The case hardened frame has 2-line patent date and rampant Colt trademark. Front of trigger guard bow has "VP" proof and "4" assembler mark. Factory checkered hard rubber grips with the matching serial numbers scratched inside. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel retains nearly all of its factory blue with some silvering around the muzzle and high edges along with a few scattered marks. Cylinder has a turn line, high edge silvering and some light scratching. Frame colors are muted, some areas drifting to patina. Grips are fine with some superficial handling marks. Very good, bright bore. Fine mechanics. A very nice and scarce late Pre-War .357 SAA. From the Robert C. Renneberg Collection
