Tap holes on left side of frame for Lyman peep sight were standard in 1955. The octagon barrel has very late barrel stamp, referred to as Type 7; the caliber stamp has a short line behind it but no WCF stamp. Rifle has the standard full tube magazine. There are no assembly numbers inside tang. The walnut stocks are of the Model 64 deluxe style, checkered pistol grip with Winchester cap, set in sling base, and checkered steel shotgun butt. Sports a Lyman receiver sight and standard dovetailed front sight. Factory blue finish with a Winchester leather sling. There is a detailed explanation of this rifle in the Winchester 1894 book, 2nd edition, by Renneberg on page 66 where he surmises that this may be the last factory built pre-64 94 rifle. CONDITION: Excellent. Shows in near new condition with light handling marks and minor impressions in stock. Mechanically functional but hammer spring is weak. Bore is bright. From the Robert C.
