Marty was the longest tenured Colt historian in company history working for Colt a total of 58 years, beginning in 1935. His name is synonymous with Colt and is known to every single Colt collector. This gun was made and presented to him for his 50th anniversary in 1986. It is engraved and signed by the equally famous Howard Dove. It is engraved in A style American Bank Note scroll, gold wedding bands at cylinder, barrel breech and muzzle. Frame exhibits gold borders. The cylinder has a gold inset page of Colt records and the Colt seal. The left recoil shield has the gold Colt pony with Marty's years of service. The loading gate has gold inlaid ink well and fountain pen. The serial number, set in gold, reads "Historian No 1". The gold facsimile signature "M. S. HUBER" decorates the back strap. The gold medallion ivory grips are scrimshawed with Colt pony on right panel and "M.S.H" on left panel. The factory letter is included along with magazine article and photographs of this gun in the Colt book. Comes with Colt box and custom display case. PROVENANCE: Ex. Collection of David and Lynette Grunberg. CONDITION: Excellent. Show as new having never been fired.
