Manufactured in 1940, one of the last serial numbers applied before the war. This revolver was presented to Ron Wagner by Colt in 1972 upon his retirement as the official Colt historian. It is inscribed on the back strap " TO RON WAGNER FROM COLTS FIREARMS 1918-1972" Ron passed away in 2021 at 93 years of age having worked with Colt for over 50 years. This late first model must have been at the factory in 1972 where it appears to have spent its entire life. It is standard in all respects with the blue and case color finish and Colt gutta percha grips. PROVENANCE: Ex. Collection of David and Lynette Grunberg. CONDITION: Excellent. Shows as near new with the only visible wear being a light drag line and very minimal handling marks. Bore is mirror bright. Has all four Colt clicks.
