The factory letters states that this carbine was shipped on January 7, 1884 with no other comments. This carbine features the blue finish, single band, post front sight, folding ladder rear sight, saddle ring and stud, marked brass carrier, case color hammer and lever, and walnut stock with blued carbine type butt plate. The walnut stock has an oval cartouche on left side with "London" and "Richards" still legible. The left side of frame is engraved "HOLLAND & HOLLAND LONDON ENGLAND". The left side of barrel at breech has three English proofs. CONDITION: Excellent as expertly restored, and retains the vast majority of the reapplied blue finish showing some sundry handling marks. The loading gate retains the bright peacock blue. Brilliant case color on hammer but thinned on lever. Stocks are excellent with nominal impressions. Mechanically sound. Bore is well defined but frosted with abrasions. The engraving on the frame is on top of restoration.
